February and March 2025
Susan Paquet

Susan Paquet received her BA in Fine Art Photography at the University of Massachusetts in
Amherst, MA in 2004 and resides in her home in rural North/Central Massachusetts.
Susan uses a medium format camera with 120mm black and white film and prints by hand in
her darkroom, often using paper negatives or lithographic sheet film to create one-of-a-
kind monoprints on archival fiber-based papers.  The photos are matted by hand by the artist
using museum quality, acid-free archival materials.
She has photographed in the US, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Italy, France, Spain and S. Korea
and has exhibited her work in a wide range of galleries, businesses and public spaces in MA,
VT, KY and CO.
In 2010 Ms. Paquet was awarded a position as Artist in Residence at the Cultural Center at
Eagle Hill School in Hardwick, Massachusetts where she worked with students navigating
through some of photography’s older, alternative processes.
Her technique utilizes dramatic contrast and enhanced texture to drift away from photographic
realism and create a more abstract or painterly kind of imagery that she hopes will evoke subtle
moods and a pleasing sense of visual curiosity. Her photography addresses the liminal spaces
between universal and personal experience, exploring a quiet contemplation of self, nature and
historical remnants; things left behind and things ever present over time.
Susan has had diverse life experiences, having traveled to 46 states, built and lived on an off-
the-grid homestead in rural Appalachia, worked as an outdoor experiential-based science and
nature teacher to middle school-aged children at sites throughout New England, and enjoyed a
12-year career in the music business as a booking agent for touring bands nationwide. She is
currently developing her own publishing business and is soon awaiting her first publication, a
wellness resource guide on reducing disease-causing inflammation within the body.
She wants to extend her thanks to the Winhall Community Arts Center for the opportunity to
show her creative work in this uniquely charming and thriving cultural arts space.
